You may have seen that we are finalists for the National StartUp Awards! We’re so incredibly excited and proud to not only be nominated, but also to be shortlisted alongside the other fabulous startups in our category.
The National StartUp Awards recognises the achievements of the amazing individuals who have had a great idea, spotted the opportunity and taken the risks to launch a new product or service. The Creative StartUp award recognises those start-ups that are operating in the creative sector in the UK, and that’s what we’ve been shortlisted for.
Familiarisation Videos was born from the realisation that the detailed information for people who want to visit new locations and venues simply doesn’t exist.
There are thousands and thousands of people who struggle when going to new places for various reasons. There are many who spend days, even weeks fretting and preparing for days out, meetings and appointments, and family meals, spending hours trawling through websites, google images, street maps, social media photos etc., sometimes resulting in cancelling at the last minute and avoiding the situation entirely because there isn’t enough information to give them confidence that the place is accessible for them.
We are on a mission to change that one video at a time!
For people with a disability or hidden illness, Familiarisation Videos can be helpful to see what facilities there are and how to manage a visit. They will allow people to see if there is anything that can be requested to make a visit more enjoyable beforehand. They allow people to plan and prepare for any possible barriers, but most of all gain the confidence to enter somewhere new and unknown with confidence.
Winning the StartUp Awards will positively impact many facets of our mission and help us to make our mission for greater accessibility for everyone more achievable. Wish us luck!
