HOW A FAMILIARISATION VIDEO CAN HELP YOU
We recognise that many people feel nervous or anxious before going somewhere new or unfamiliar, these Familiarisation Videos will help overcome that.

We found that new Mums and Dads were anxious about finding somewhere suitable to take their new born, to feed and change. Familiarisation Videos would identify comfortable and accommodating venues to spend some time with friends or other new parents.

For people with a disability or hidden illness, Familiarisation Videos can be helpful to see what facilities there are and how you will manage your visit. It will also allow you to see if there is anything you can request to make your visit more enjoyable beforehand.

These Familiarisation Videos can also be used to prepare individuals with conditions such as Autism or Dementia. It can also be used to remind them of where they have already been and what they did.

"Absolutely I would use this!!!

Such an amazing idea.

It would give me one less thing to be anxious about in new surroundings and being able to see how accessible it is for my own needs would be soooooo helpful"

"It would be good if it showed someone in a wheelchair accessing the facilities, as often turning circles of a chair, or room for additional carers in lifts and toilets are not taken in to consideration!

I have twins with lots of additional needs, so two of us are needed for transfers plus the twins... Some loo facilities are very cosy!"

"It would definitely reduce stress levels to have a sense of knowing where everything is and what is likely to happen when I'm there.

New places are overwhelming and hard to process"

"I'd definitely use this!

It would help with knowing where things are in the venue and the best for me to be in the venue without feeling over-crowded"

"OMG this would be amazing!

I'm not too bad when I'm with someone, but on my own I feel physically sick when I go somewhere new and don't know the layout (or even know how to get there)

I remember with my daughters hospital appointments in Swansea and I had to ask about where I needed to be because in my head I had to mentally prepare and feel confident about where I was going"
